untitled (Home), 52″ x 32″ encaustic diptych
Remember when I made a whole series exploring the concept of home? As soon as I finished those pieces, I went straight to work on this diptych, a special commission for the church located in the same building as the Harrison Center.
This piece felt like the natural conclusion my examination of what makes a true home. It is something I am still building, a life-long project. I love that this work is open to so many different interpretations.
I made the bird’s nest and flowing lines out of yarn dipped in white wax. I quickly molded them into shape before the wax became too hard to shape. Now all I need is to build a custom frame to house these two.
