This week I tackled landscapes for the first time in my life. Before now I had never been drawn to them or interested in painting them at all. But gazing out the window at the beginning of the fall season, something struck me. It seemed like the perfect time for me to create a tribute to the beautiful weather I experienced along the coast of Oregon last month.

I love weather. Almost every type of it pleases me (I will only take the cold because it brings the snow). I really enjoyed the rain and mist and grey in Oregon. The first piece here was my attempt to recreate it in wax. In the second piece, I explored creating landscapes with tons of texture, and in the third I blended all the colors into a smooth finish.

Did I say I didn’t like landscapes? Now I’m hooked.
