6 x 6 inches, mixed media encaustic

This piece was painted on glass, which really features the wax’s beautiful translucency. (For you encaustic artists out there, I did this by first gluing paper to the glass, which provides an absorbent surface for the wax to adhere to.) It is difficult to photograph, but these pieces really glow when placed against a window.

This piece hasn’t yet found its title, but it again deals with themes of control versus chaos, order versus uninhibited flow. In the past few days, I have been exploring how these two seemingly opposing concepts can work together. I am enjoying the results in my art and in my approach to art-making.
