These are lichen-covered tree branches I see when I look out the window of the studio where I am now working in Washington state. The mountains, the trees, the snow all make it easy to find inspiration. I have spent the first two days of my residency setting up in the studio and sketching out ideas. I have also been…

admiring my friend Shannon‘s brush rainbow,

pondering the potential of a new stash of beeswax,

admiring the alien forms of sea creatures,

finding beauty in process,

experimenting and dreaming up nature-inspired work,

and drinking lots and lots of tea.
My head is full of ideas, and I cannot wait to get them out in a more concrete way. Hopefully I will have something more tangible to show you in the next couple of days.

When I saw the first picture out of the corner of my eye, I thought it was one of your paintings! And I also thought the beeswax was corn, lol.
